Hi my name is Jack Price and this is my first Blog. This blog has been set-up to assist in the exploration of Web2.0 and social networking concepts as part of an Enterprise2.0 course in my degree at QUT. As a young geek, the internet has been my playground for leisure, shopping mall, forum for self-exploration and primary knowledge resource for many years. I have grown up close to the web2.0 concepts i am now studying academically. However, until the advent, and my eventual acceptance of, Facebook I have always conducted myself with behind a certain degree of anonymity. Blogs have never been a particularly attractive concept to me thanks to the appalling manner in which many are written, much less a personally linked one. Thus I am using the derogatory term Blag, a reference to XKCD. I do go into this experiment with an open mind, however.
God help me if this turns into a regular medium in which my uncensored conciousness is incoherently poured out for the world to happily ignore.
Actually About Me:
I’m currently slowly doing a double degree in Business and IT. Majoring in Economics, Management and Information Systems. I essentially study part-time and work part-time for a major Queensland charity; where I have worked for 2 and half years in what is a network administration and support role. At the moment I am primarily responsible for the Application environment; both through controlling and deploying the desktop environment and applications and though Citrix Terminal Servers. This is includes delivery of related services and connection and integration with other corporate services. My interests in IT are pretty holistic; I enjoy the logical challenges it presents as opposed to any particular discipline.
Personally, I row pretty much full-time. Up to 12, two hour, training sessions a week. I do this at a competitive level, vying for seats in Queensland and Australian representative crew. I compete asĀ a lightweight, limited to 70kg. I enjoy moderate success. This is more of a lifestyle with long term aspirations. I am not naturally talented in this sport; but I thoroughly enjoy the ridiculous fitness level, challenges, comradery and the sensation of accomplishment and utter exhaustion.

Finally I am something of an avid sailor. I do not have the time for this I once had. And although I still compete, it is with a more recreational attitude. Several years ago I built my own racing dinghy, a 4m Australian Impulse, which I named ‘Sparrow’; homage to my previous boat ‘Arrow’ and the famous pirate I briefly enjoyed being nicknamed. That boat cost me a semester of fails; university compares unfavourably with boat building.
